May 21st 2012 - New Banksy
21st May 2012
The latest piece of work assumed to be made by world famous street artist Banksy, showing a child labourer making union flag bunting, taking a swipe at consumerism, the Jubilee and the Olympics in one swipe.

With the Eurostar services moving across London to St. Pancras, it is now an authorised grafitti area, I wander down there often to look at the new peices of work, it also makes a great location for urban themed photo shoots.

13th May 2012
The world lost a great man this week. American sports car designer Carroll Shelby. Famous for making crazy power Ford Mustangs and his Cobra's when I spotted this beautiful Shelby Cobra 427 while filming a drag strip event for CrewsVs at North Weald Airfield, I had to take a photo of it.

April 30th 2012 - Battle of Britian Monument
30th April 2012
The Battle of Britain Monument in London is a sculpture on the Victoria Embankment overlooking the River Thames, unveiled in September 2005, 65 years after the battle.
The monument utilises a panelled granite structure 25 metres long which was originally designed as a smoke outlet for underground trains when they were powered by steam engines. A walkway was cut obliquely through the middle of the structure, and is lined with panels of high relief sculpture in bronze depicting scenes from the Battle of Britain. The centrepiece is an approximately life sized sculpture of airmen scrambling for their aircraft during the battle. The outside of the monument is lined with bronze plaques listing all the airmen who took part in the Battle on the Allied side.

April 19th 2012 - Cleopatra's Needle
19th April 2012
Cleopatra's needle is an ancient Egyptian Obelisk, located on the Victoria Embankment. It was presented to the United Kingdom in 1819 by the ruler of Egypt and Sudan Muhammad Ali, in commemoration of the victories of Lord Nelson at the Battle of the Nile and Sir Ralph Abercromby at the Battle of Alexandria in 1801. Although the British government welcomed the gesture, it declined to fund the expense of transporting it to London.
Cleopatra's Needle is flanked by two faux-Egyptian sphinxes cast from bronze that bear hieroglyphic inscriptions that say netjer nefer men-kheper-re di ankh (the good god, Thuthmosis III given life). These Sphinxes appear to be looking at the Needle rather than guarding it. This is due to the Sphinxes' improper or backwards installation.

April 17th 2012 - The Horses Of Helios
17th April 2012
The statue is situated in
Piccadilly Circus. Helios was the Greek god of the sun. Each day he
drove his golden chariot across the sky, east to west. At
night, he would rest before crossing the sky the next day. His chariot
was made of gold and pulled by 4 golden horses: Pyrois, Eos, Aethon, and
Phleyo.

Unfortunatley this shot was compromised by the security guard you can see approaching in the bottom of the shot, hopefully it will be the worst shot this year, but a sorry state of the over the top paranoid police state Britian has become.

April 9rd 2012 - Drift HD
9rd April 2012
One of the tools we have for shooting on CrewsVs are Drift HD cameras. These fantastic cameras made by drift innovation are splash proof, have a great wide angle, a rotating lens and a preview screen allowing you to preview the shot before you actually film the scene.
All this means they are fantastic for mounting on cars for onboard shots!
